C&P Exams

Mental Health Services

Mental Health Services

Compensation and Pension (C&P) exams are comprehensive medical evaluations carried out by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to assess disability claims. These C&P exams are scheduled only after a veteran has submitted a compensation and pension claim with the VA. Additionally, the evaluations are crucial in understanding the link between veterans mental health and their eligibility for primary care services.

What We Do at ASES

Agent Orange Exposure

TERA

Agent Orange, a toxic herbicide used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War, has led to severe health issues, including cancer, birth defects, and neurological disorders. Veterans who served in Vietnam (1962–1975) or near the Korean DMZ (1967–1971) are presumed to have been exposed. Those diagnosed with a VA-recognized presumptive condition may qualify for disability benefits without needing to prove direct service connection, often facilitated through C&P exams. A DD214 typically verifies eligibility for these benefits, which are critical for veterans' mental health. Access to primary care services is also essential in addressing the long-term effects of Agent Orange exposure for veterans across all 50 states.

Orthopedic

Musculoskeletal and Joint Injuries, Including Arthritis

A military career is physically demanding, often leading to musculoskeletal injuries from activities like road marches, running, airborne operations, and obstacle courses. These high-impact actions frequently result in chronic pain and joint damage, with common injuries affecting the knees, hips, feet, legs, back, neck, and other joints. To help address these issues, it's important for veterans in Louisiana to utilize primary care services and participate in C&P exams, as well as seek support for veterans mental health.

Nerve and Neurological

Migraines and Headaches

Migraines and severe headaches can be debilitating for veterans, often preventing them from working, spending time with family, or engaging in social activities. In extreme cases, these conditions can lead to unemployability. Unfortunately, the VA limits the maximum disability rating for migraines to 50%, resulting in inadequate compensation for their condition. Furthermore, veterans seeking primary care services often feel that their migraines are not fully addressed during C&P exams. This oversight can significantly impact veterans mental health across all 50 states.

We handle other conditions. Contact Us for more detail.
